It is done . . . and we kicked butt

I always go into a funk after a show is over. I think it has to do with the fact that I throw myself into the show completely and then when it is over, it is a let-down both physically and emotionally. I mean it's not depressing just sad to know it is over and we can't go on again or go back to rehearsals. The cast of CATS was awesome. The group bonded so tightly it is hard to believe we haven't been friends and doing this longer than we had. We have made the committment to try and get together at least once a month. I have met some wonderful people and made some great friendships, and renewed some previous friendships. Now come the moment of truth, when we see if these freindships survive outside of the Guild, or actually outside of the show. After doing this for three years, I now know that this is possible. Some of the really cool people I met this year and became friends with are people like Jeremy and Kelly and Chuck. Some people I became closer to than I had before like Teri and Kevin and Jim B and Mindy. And some I just kept on being friends with like Joie and Cheryl and Stacey. The Leibrechts will always be there and be a friend to each and every one of us, we are their kids and they are our other parents.
Now it is back to school for me. I went today to get the list of chemicals I need to send to the Science Lab committe. I just have to find it. I know I placed it down somewhere in the house. Then the storm came, blew the roof off the apartment, lost electricity for a few minutes, and now I don't know where they are at. Tomorrow might mean a day without power if AmerenUE comes out and needs to shut down the transformer to repair any of the lines. (Part of the roof landed on the neighbors power lines) So while I have power I am trying to get some work done. Adrienne wants me to send out a reminder to people about JPs on Friday night. If you are reading this, here is your reminder.

All we need now is the audience

All we need now is the audience. I think the show is ready. Well, pretty much ready. There is always a few rough spots to work out and transitions to make crisper and cleaner. But we are at the point where an audience would add the energy and response we need to perform. Gus keeps getting better, I won't say I don't have my moments of going crazy but I want Gus to have his moment and not have to share the spolight with someone else trying to steal his thunder. After all, Gus is the cat at the the theatre door . . . and that moment of mystery when I made history is such a moving point in the song and the show, I don't want anything or anyone ruining it.
With that said, this is one of the closest casts I have had the privelege to work with. I hope we do keep in touch afterwards and continue having our nights out.

Tech Week Message

We’re All In This Together

I am borrowing (and paraphrasing) these words from the Disney Channel Original movie High School Musical. People are just going to be blown away by CATS when they see the costumes, make-up, wigs, sets, lights, entry hall, band, and the performance at Bishop DuBourg Guild Theatre. We have worked so hard for so long.

Together, together, together everyone
Together, together, come on, let’s have some fun
Together, we’re there for each other every time
Together, together, come on, let’s do this right

Here and now it’s time for celebration
I finally figured out
Yeah, yeah
That all our dreams have no limitations
That’s what it’s all about
Come on now
Everyone is special in their own way
We make each other strong
Each other strong
We’re not the same,
We’re different in a good way
Together’s where we belong

We’re all in this together
Once we know that we are
We’re all stars and we see that
We’re all in this together
And it shows when we stand hand in hand
Make our dreams come true
Everybody now

Together, together, together everyone
Together, together, come on, let’s have some fun
Together, we’re there for each other every time
Together, together, come on, let’s do this right

We’re all here and speaking out with one voice
We’re gonna rock the house
Yeah, yeah
The party’s on
Now everybody make some noise
Come on, scream and shout
We’re arrived because we stuck together
Champions one and all

We’re all in this together
Once we know that we are
We’re all stars and we see that
We’re all in this together
And it shows when we stand hand in hand
Make our dreams come (true)
We’re all in this together
When we reach, we can fly,
Know inside, we can make it
We’re all in this together
Once we see there’s a chance
That we have and we take it

(Jellicle Cats) sing along
Yeah, you really got it goin’ on
(Jellicle Cats) in the house
Everybody say it now
(Jellicle Cats) everywhere
Wave your hands up in the air
That’s the way we do it
Let’s get to it
Time to show the world

(Jellicles dance)

All right, here we go

We’re all in this together
Once we know that we are
We’re all stars and we see that
We’re all in this together
And it shows when we stand hand in hand
Make our dreams come (true)
We’re all in this together
When we reach, we can fly,
Know inside, we can make it
We’re all in this together
Once we see there’s a chance
That we have and we take it
(Jellicle Cats) everywhere
Wave your hands up in the air
That’s the way we do it
Let’s get to it

Come on everyone!
